Computer Diagnostics

Not sure what's wrong with your computer? Drop it off at my Wynnum workshop for a proper diagnosis before paying for repairs you might not need.

If you're not sure what's actually wrong with your computer, diagnostics is the right first step rather than guessing at a fix or paying for a repair you might not need. Drop it off at my Wynnum workshop and I'll work through it properly — checking the drive's health, testing RAM, inspecting for physical damage, and reviewing what Windows itself is reporting — before telling you what's actually going on. Sometimes that points to a straightforward repair, sometimes it's a software fix that doesn't need any parts, and occasionally it's simply not worth fixing, which I'll tell you honestly rather than taking the job on regardless. I'll quote the diagnostic assessment upfront, and if it turns into a repair, that cost counts toward the total rather than being charged twice. This is the right service if you genuinely don't know whether the problem is hardware or software — if you already know it's a cracked screen or a computer that won't turn on, you can go straight to Computer Repairs or Laptop Repairs instead.

How is this different from just booking a repair?

Computer Repairs assumes the problem is already known to be hardware. Diagnostics is for when you're not sure what's wrong at all — I work out the cause first, then recommend what actually needs doing.

What if the computer isn't worth fixing?

I'll tell you. Sometimes the cost of parts and labour is close to or more than the computer's worth, especially on older machines — that's useful to know before spending anything further.

Do I pay twice if diagnostics turns into a repair?

No — the diagnostic time counts toward the repair, so you're not charged separately for both.
