Desktop PC Repairs
Drop your desktop or tower off at my Wynnum workshop for power faults, no-display issues, overheating and drive failures. I'll quote before any work begins.
- Power Supply Faults
- No Display Fixes
- Overheating
- Drive Replacement
Desktop towers fail in different ways to laptops — a power supply that's died, a computer that won't post or show any display, dust-related overheating, or a failing hard drive or SSD. Drop it off at my Wynnum workshop and I'll diagnose what's actually failed, whether that's the power supply, RAM, storage, or something else on the motherboard. This covers general desktops, home-built PCs, and gaming PCs, including graphics card and cooling issues on higher-spec machines. Desktops are generally more straightforward to work on than laptops since parts aren't as tightly packed in, which often makes diagnosis and repair more affordable. I'll diagnose the fault first, then give you a clear quote for the repair — including the cost of any parts needed, like a power supply, a replacement drive or extra cooling — before doing any work. If the tower turns on fine but Windows itself is the problem, that's covered under Windows Repairs instead.
My desktop won't turn on at all — no lights, no fans.
That usually points to the power supply, though it can also be a motherboard or power connection fault. I'll test the power supply first since it's the most common and cheapest fix.
The computer turns on but there's no display.
That's a different fault to the computer not turning on at all — usually related to the graphics card, RAM seating, or a monitor connection issue. I'll work through each possibility during diagnosis.
Can you fix a gaming PC or custom-built desktop?
Yes — the diagnostic approach is the same, though graphics card and cooling issues are more common on higher-spec builds than on standard office desktops.
