Can Data Be Recovered From an SSD?
Sometimes, but SSD recovery is generally less predictable than hard drive recovery. SSDs fail differently — often suddenly and completely rather than gradually — and their internal data management makes recovery more technically involved than with a mechanical drive.
Why SSDs are different
Mechanical hard drives often fail gradually, giving some warning through noise or slowdown. SSDs are more likely to simply stop working, sometimes with the controller itself failing rather than the storage cells, which changes what recovery approaches are viable.
What's worth doing immediately
As with any storage failure, stop using the drive as soon as a fault is suspected, and avoid repeated restarts or DIY software attempts. Getting it assessed properly is the best way to find out what's actually realistic for your specific situation.
