Remote IT Support
Screen-share support for software problems, settings and everyday computer help, without waiting for an on-site visit. $135 hr.
- Screen Share
- Software Fixes
- No Travel Wait
- Same Rate
A lot of computer problems don't need someone in the room to fix — settings, software issues, slow performance, printer and Wi-Fi troubleshooting, and general how-do-I-do-this questions can usually be sorted over a screen-sharing session. I'll ask you to open a simple screen-sharing tool, talk you through what's happening, and work through the fix together while you watch — nothing happens on your computer that you can't see. This suits software problems specifically; if the fault turns out to be hardware — a computer that won't turn on, a cracked screen, a failing drive — that needs a workshop drop-off instead, and I'll let you know if that's the case rather than trying to force a remote fix that won't actually work. Remote support is charged at the same $135 an hour rate as on-site visits, usually billed in shorter blocks depending on the job, and there's no travel time built into the cost.
What can't be fixed remotely?
Anything physical — a computer that won't turn on, hardware faults, screen damage, failing drives. I'll tell you upfront if a problem needs a workshop visit instead of trying to talk you through something that won't work.
Is remote support cheaper than an on-site visit?
It's the same hourly rate, but sessions are often shorter since there's no travel time involved, so the total cost can end up lower for straightforward issues.
What do I need to set up a remote session?
Just a working internet connection and a few minutes to install a simple screen-sharing tool, which I'll talk you through when we book the session.
