SSD Upgrades
Replace a slow hard drive with an SSD for a significantly faster computer, with a clean data transfer included. Done at my Wynnum workshop — I'll quote before any work begins.
- Faster Startup
- Data Transfer
- Right-Sized Drive
- Laptop & Desktop
If your computer still has a mechanical hard drive, moving to an SSD is usually the single biggest speed improvement available — faster startup, faster loading programs, and a computer that generally feels far more responsive. Drop it off at my Wynnum workshop and I'll check the drive interface and available space before recommending a size, then either clone your existing setup across or do a clean installation with your files and programs transferred properly, depending on which suits the computer better. I won't recommend more storage than you actually need — I'll ask what you're using the computer for and size the drive accordingly. This applies to both laptops and desktops, though not every laptop has an accessible or upgradeable drive bay, which I'll confirm before quoting. I'll give you a clear quote for the upgrade and data transfer, plus the cost of the drive itself, before starting.
Will I lose my files during an SSD upgrade?
No — I clone or transfer everything across as part of the job, and I'll confirm your files are intact and accessible before considering it done.
How much faster will my computer actually be?
If it's currently running on a mechanical hard drive, the difference is usually very noticeable — particularly startup time and how quickly programs open.
What size SSD do I need?
It depends on what's currently on the computer and how you use it. I'll check your actual usage before recommending a size, rather than defaulting to whatever's largest.
